House in a beautiful forest probably my pipedream
woundedduck on 22 Feb 2010 at 7:08 pm #
The house is embarrassing in its opulence, particularly since it’s a second home. Architecture is truly the plaything of the rich.
biff on 22 Feb 2010 at 8:25 pm #
there are rich people get over it.
Lee on 22 Feb 2010 at 8:36 pm #
look at all of the windows and sunlight that the house gets. No other houses around you, you can see forest out of all the windows. truly beautiful! wish I had a house like that, but I would want mine to come with a remote that can shut the blinds on those windows with the click of a button at night
Walter T on 22 Feb 2010 at 8:58 pm #
I’d hardly call the house opulent. It’s very nicely done & I like it a lot. The setting may be opulent but I think I’d characterize the house as cozy.

looks like a great place to relax and reward yourself for all your hard work. I love it!
susie on 23 Feb 2010 at 5:14 pm #
Yeah, I love it and I want one!!! Oh so beautiful!
david on 23 Feb 2010 at 8:46 pm #
weekend house?
sad that it spends the majority of its beautiful existence unoccupied….
lolo on 23 Feb 2010 at 10:26 pm #
don’t need blinds
Jeremy on 23 Feb 2010 at 11:06 pm #
Try not to judge the owner. He or she may travel a lot for work and have a very small, simple crash pad during the ‘week’.
Maylo on 24 Feb 2010 at 6:39 pm #
Woundedduck – comments like yours only show how narrow minded and jealous you are. Opulent? you must live in a hovel if this house seems opulent with its Pier 1 furnishings, almost no art on the walls, baseboard heaters, etc. This house is a nicely designed comfortable dwelling in a spectacular setting. Period.
steve bart on 24 Feb 2010 at 7:58 pm #
i think its great , maybe i would have put a bit of stone work into it , its missing that gentle woodland touch, but it still looks fantastic
steve bart on 24 Feb 2010 at 11:21 pm #
ps, Architecture is truely a plaything for the mind and soul, (NOT THE RICH) it opens up your dreams and imagination, it truely brings out the inner spirit , and of course what some people dont have is imagination, well done to see great Architecs,

amazing house overall! The only downfall is that the landscaping around the house is nonexistent I don’t mean the forest I mean no shrubs around the house or anything like that. Other than that….Where can I buy one of these?
waicool on 01 Mar 2010 at 2:26 am #
this modern styled house actually looks livable
Sovtic on 01 Mar 2010 at 11:24 am #
House is nice, but bed next to window is so dangerous, at least for me. I would broke it in two days.
Salama on 01 Mar 2010 at 8:26 pm #
I really like this house, and I dont say that alot. The lighting style matches the color tones. There is simplicity to the detailing that give the idea of intentionality ; the whole premise of the modern ear.
Woundedduck; I don’t think you know what opulence actually means in regard to architecture. See the attached link for a better example.

I love the look in and out, the curved roof lines talking to the curve over the entrance that “for me ” called for a more generous “CURVED” deck over looking the slope!
.
Something the has a more nature oriented shape.
For such a nice home the front deck looks a cheap not thought through finishing concept.Even the straight line does not call for a nice family gathering…but who knows maybe its only for a single couple.. and hey yes there are people how have money to spend, thanks for that.
Compare this to the 37 million $ renovation of the “Dupont” mansion in the Architectural Digest this is pocket money
Brian on 02 Mar 2010 at 8:12 pm #
While I agree that this is not opulent, just a nice open home in a gorgeous setting, the main reason that I don’t have one of these is indeed monetary.
But it’s nice to see it and dream! And I initially read the comment as a joke. While we can all appreciate architecture it is not something that the poor ‘play with’.
Kyloe on 03 Mar 2010 at 4:50 am #
Architecture is not the domain of the rich. This is our home. We are not rich. We just worked bloody hard to build it. So; Get off your arses folks.

It’s a nice house, not far from my parent’s place. Totally out of character for the area but that’s alright.
Jalmari K on 07 Mar 2010 at 4:55 am #
Amazing! I’d love to visit there.
Steve on 12 Mar 2010 at 3:07 pm #
To wounded duck. If it wasn’t for intelligent hard working people that spend their money, there wouldn’t be a chance for craftsman, architects or any talented ,creative people to express themselves and make a living. A Pathetic point of view. But we all have our own opinions. The house is beautiful and belongs there. Please look up the word opulent.
Maxboldeau on 27 Mar 2010 at 8:14 pm #
I can understand one would think that it’s a rather nice second home. Much better than many a people’s first (if at all) home.
All is relative…
Wishiwasrich on 28 Mar 2010 at 7:11 pm #
Architecturally the house is fine. Why anyone would say it “is embarrassing in its opulence,” strikes me as funny.
leeroy Jenkins on 31 Mar 2010 at 3:24 pm #
Really……why do people always get sarcastic when talking about wealthy people? It’s not their fault that we are not as wealthy, or well in my case poor, hell it’s a beautiful house..get over it.
teleiap on 25 Apr 2010 at 8:19 am #
This house is beautiful. Contemporary architecture is usually somewhat cold, or at least austere (in my opinion), but this house is warm. I love the bed next to the window and the views… I also LOVE the porch on the second story–is it attached to a livingroom?
chickawa on 28 Apr 2010 at 1:35 pm #
Wow @ Kyloe!! That is so amazing!! Great job! If I could afford it, I would definitely love to have a place like that!

Nice house but curious how the roof slope handles snow & ice.

I am from a suburb in SoCal and the amount of windows in this thing would FREAK me out. Aren’t you afraid of burglars?
Reed on 23 Oct 2010 at 9:50 am #
Very nice place , a bit sterile with no shrubs, or plants to frame it , my Mother has a plain bungalow small , the (years of) landscaping makes it look great ; and not the first time , I heard ” oh I worked really hard to have all this ” –as if– poor working folks do not work hard , they do ! At near minimum wage people can never in 90 years afford a house like this . Not opulent, no, just not affordable housing for millions of people, stop lecturing poor people. Thanks.
Kitty on 26 Oct 2010 at 10:51 pm #
“Opulence” is a relative term. As someone living in a one bedroom, 605 sq. ft. apartment, this is truly opulent. The view alone is worth whatever they’re paying to keep the place.
Zoran Djuric on 02 Nov 2010 at 4:29 am #

Gorgeous. I would love waking up in the morning at this house. I love natural lighting so much. Great second home, wish it was my first!!
Sophie on 03 Nov 2010 at 4:04 pm #
That bed against the wall is pretty, but I bet it’s a bitch to make.
Alyssa on 03 Nov 2010 at 6:15 pm #
Compared to many of the second homes in NH this one is far from “opulent.” If you want opulent, visit the houses on Lake Winnipesauke, with huge golden fences, multiple car garages, etc. This one is simple and a new spin on a classic NH mountain home. I like it.
Jlee on 14 Nov 2010 at 9:01 am #
LOVE IT!!!
Andy on 21 Nov 2010 at 3:15 am #
Kyloe you have beautiful home. It’s remarkably simular to a design I’m working on for our next house. If I may ask, I’ve seen a picture with a bed that looks to be in a hallway, is that the case or does it just appear that way?
harmony on 15 Jan 2011 at 11:19 pm #
It’s quite interesting to me that Maylo is denigrating Woundedduck for stating the house seems oppulent and saying they are narrow minded. Then in the next statement say they must live in a hovel….funny how people love to attack others about being “narrow minded” when you are being “narrow minded” by attacking them.
The house is beautiful….but some of cannot even afford Pier One furniture, even if we don’t live in “hovels”.
fajas colombianas on 27 Jan 2011 at 9:01 am #
I love the house. Just one problem though, people could see your every move with all those windows.
