Huf Haus is a provider of customizable prefab kit homes. Built in a factory in Germany, you can choose to put these post and beam homes together yourself, or Huf Haus will manage the whole project for you.

Hi, Huf Haus is actually a German company (with offices in various places around Europe). I know this because I went to look at one of their model homes here in Switzerland a while back and talked to the sales people.

Also, I didn’t really get the impression that the houses can be built on your own. We were told that they send a team of experienced builders to build the house. The price includes that cost if I remember correctly. The advantage is that since the parts are pre-assembled at their factory, building time is faster than with normal house construction.

I love it !

Is there a way to have this home built
here in the USA ?

How hard would it be to adapt solar panels
to the roof? And to make it energy-efficient?

This is just beautiful…I love it !

Excellent design ,indeed. It should not be a problem to build one of those in the USA. First I wanted to go for a Huf House but then my wife found another company doing very much the same style in Germany. They already built houses in Japan. Since it’s a pre-fab as well, construction in the US shouldn’t be a problem!
As for the energy efficiency, I can only speak for the house we chose(www.davinci-haus.de). It’s got a brilliant energy-rating, with triple glazing and stuff. Should be similar in this case!

Gerd,

What are your reasons that sold you to building a Davinci haus as opposed to Huf Haus?
I checked out thier site and I just love these homes.
I was thinking we would have to move to Europe to live in one of these. I am looking to see if they build these homes in the USA or not.

I am in Colorado.

Is there anyone in the USA doing a prefabricated house like the Huf Haus product they are building in Germany?

Has anyone imported a house like this to the USA?

I can see problems with different plumbing and electrical standards so it would need to take care of that issue.

However the factory fabrication should be something that can be achieved in the USA.

The opportunity to build an energy efficient home and take advantage of the Obama grants and tax incentives should have someone building these homes but where are they?

My wife and I fell in love with this style of life as when it comes to homes. The first encounter was about twenty years ago in Mannheim Germany at the Mia Market. We thought at that time they had reached perfection. The company has only gotten better. We are in Florida and what we would like to know now is how much and when can we get started.

Hi I live in Northern Territory of Australia. Darwin. The Huf House is to me is extreme.
There is nothing quite like it here in Australia.
I am and many of my friends and families want this here in Australia. It suits the climate and would have massive gains to the end user and the enviroment even to the ashetics of enviroment.
Please tell us how much it would cost to do this here.

We are in Tasmania. Desperate to build one of these houses. Believe they suit the Australian climate beautifully and would do so well in this country.
Any chance they may start an Australian branch given increasing demand?
