Condos in Washington, DC
Georgetown is a very historic neighborhood in Washington, DC. The area is full of heritage buildings and the residents who love them, so it’s a big challenge for anyone who wants to build anything new, and even more challenging if you get any ideas of building something contemporary. So it was with great bravery that McInturff Architects designed this addition of six residential units in a rooftop village above two mid-nineteenth century buildings on Georgetown’s main shopping street.

Gorgeous but how many millions does it take to live in a box in DC? The myth of simplicity and minimalism continues to be dangled in front of a majority that will never be able to afford it. So covet it all you want but you’ll have to be an old, fat, DC lawyer or at least sleeping with one to live here.

Mark has a point here – whilst these buildings are amazing, they’re only ever going to remain a pipe dream for most of us. I does seem strange that it costs so much to buy a ‘minimal’ home nowadays.
For the average person I think perhaps they should look at the beautiful designs being done with prefab homes.

these are really wonderful. glad to see people are finally starting to offer something different in the realm of residential architecture around here. I can see how even though these might be super expensive for most… that b/c they were built in Georgetown make sense. The AVERAGE median income in d.c. is $90k..and if you’re buying in georgetown you’re probably making well over that and able to afford these i’m sure.
They have a nice mix of warm and modern materials.
I have to say that glass rails for the stairs would not be my choice… can you imagine how easy those are to get dirty???!!!
