These are so cool, especially the first one. Why have I never seen stuff like this before? These are so practical for small rooms.
Freelance Web Design on 03 Aug 2008 at 1:30 pm #
These are actually really great setups. Very cool!
Rajiv Tewari on 05 Aug 2008 at 2:30 am #
Very innovative and functional designs! Great effort-congratulations.

This is freakin’ awesome. I think they are neat, and practical for kids of all ages.
I wish I had something like this.

Anyone know of UK distributor?
Thanx
Dave on 23 Aug 2008 at 1:22 pm #
It’s probably best to phone or send them an email to ask about UK distributors. I’m sure they would be happy to help.

wow nice! I like the first one, it looks clean and simple.
Danny R on 05 Oct 2008 at 6:31 pm #
I would love to do this to my room. It saves so much space and makes the room so much more modern. LOVE IT!!!
Kyle on 07 Oct 2008 at 7:42 pm #
either the scale of these beds is way off or the ceilings shown are super high. I love the look though. I just don’t know how practical they would be.
Wed Design on 23 Oct 2008 at 7:08 am #
Excellent. Do that make grown up ones too?
Mike Hobizal on 24 Oct 2008 at 1:12 am #

Omaha Dave on 27 Oct 2008 at 9:15 pm #
Super-cool! These designs are attractive, and it appears they’d make good use of space. Neat!
ATL on 27 Oct 2008 at 9:48 pm #
They look small even for children
orbiter on 28 Oct 2008 at 12:05 am #
somehow, they feel very… hospital-ish.
momazon5 on 28 Oct 2008 at 2:00 am #
yeah… and it’s all over but the cryin’… one shove, and little brother’s in the emergency room!
There’s a reason you don’t see more of these… parents know better! Designers? not so much….
Why? 1st thing – the beds are impossible to make. Changing linens is a nightmare.
2nd thing? – lookit’ all those pokey edges!!! You’re gonna’ poke an eye out that way.
~says the designer/mother who survived to cut the legs off her childrens’ loft beds after years of tears (theirs) and cursing (hers)… who has WHITE, washable upholstered furniture and believes grownups (and children) deserve – and crave good design!
gCommerce on 28 Oct 2008 at 5:45 am #
These are some outstanding examples of how to maximize minimal space. A MUST for every major city dweller. Now let’s see how many IKEA inspired elements are pictured in this collection.
J on 28 Oct 2008 at 11:53 pm #
ok so there’s a lot of people who see this as a great idea and while it is a trendy look that would make anyone want it, it would only take one night to figure out what might be the issue here. you’re gonna need a lamp on anytime you turn off the lights otherwise it’s gonna be fun finding the stairs. try getting down with the lights off. it just isn’t the best. perhaps this will be the comeback of ‘clap-on’ lights tho.
jennifer on 29 Oct 2008 at 12:34 am #
“try getting down when the lights off” .. pfft! you just jump off, haha. that’s what kids would do!
as far as people thinking the proportions of the rooms are larger than normal, think.. these are childrens beds. they dont sit that far off the floor unless you design it that way by stacking a lot. and the mattresses are so thin they barely take up any room..
& why are the mattresses so thin anyway? that looks so uncomfortable, like jail, haha!
i love this:

Very Nice! first one my fav.
Paul on 29 Oct 2008 at 11:55 pm #
These are great. Granted, a bit sterile, but in a cool Space 1999 meets a PG-13 A Clockwork Orange.
As a kid I’d have loved something like this. Ok, I’d think, my knife collection will go here. My James Bond books will go here. My ski clothes will occupy this drawer, and I can stack all my Dungeons and Dragons books over there. I wish I had an Apple IIe, I think.
My childhood bedroom furniture was a Byzantine collection of cheap pine-encrusted or ornate-bordering-on-Mafia-wife overdone furniture. I built a fort in the closet. On the wall I had sidecut schematic of Jack Cousteau’s Calypso. Yes, very Rushmore-esque.
Mel on 30 Oct 2008 at 2:56 am #
Nice design, but what parent would realistically pay for a miniature bed and modular setup that their child will grow out of by the time they are 8? Yet another waste of money and resources.
I could see a use for these in family suites in hotels though.
witch on 30 Oct 2008 at 3:52 am #
Note that both the ‘girly’ pink ensembles, have the bed on the floor.
What does this tell us about gender expectations?
Shea on 01 Nov 2008 at 1:52 pm #
Wow… I wish I would have had that much space growing up. The first one was the entire size of my bedroom.. nevermind the extra storage below. -.-
dills on 01 Nov 2008 at 4:37 pm #
These are awesome! The beds are typical twin sizes…why does everyone think they’re so small? These would be perfect for college dorm rooms!
junebug on 02 Nov 2008 at 8:28 pm #
These are really neat. If you’re short on space, having all the drawers under the bed would be great. Not to mention kids would probably think it’s pretty cool to sleep so high.
true g on 03 Nov 2008 at 10:20 am #
you would need high ceilings
Punkahontas on 03 Nov 2008 at 11:41 am #
these are so adorable…
kudos to the designer
=3
Danny on 03 Nov 2008 at 1:18 pm #
My first thought was how impractical this is for most applications (all reasons mentioned above). My second thought was…”boy, I’d hate to CLEAN a setup like this!”.
Ha on 04 Nov 2008 at 8:20 am #
its for children, so the head height is less of an issue. Dont you think the designers may have thought about that a little before showing their designs off?
They are photographed in studios with high ceilings to show off the space, but I’m sure the designers have worked from a reasonably sensible room. Standard 20th Century room.
Photo 1 has 5 steps, so that puts the mattress at 70-90 cm, so in a standard house 2.2m high ceilings, the child has 1.4 to 1.1 metres headroom. Its Mom cleaning the room I’m more worried about. tall children will soon learn not to bounce on their mattress, copious velcro on the ceiling would also stop that.
TobiasMik on 05 Nov 2008 at 5:22 am #
Nice bedrooms. They look like climbing installations at playgrounds! Fun for the kids.
Tigger86 on 05 Nov 2008 at 8:03 am #
Why are comments being made about needing high ceilings? It’s standard for most places to have 8+ foot high ceilings and it looks like these are set up in rooms with that height of ceiling. I’d love one of these set-ups for my apartment. It’s nice having a roommate to share rent with, but it sucks figuring out how to have furniture for two people. If they were less expensive this is the perfect solution.
Christopher on 05 Nov 2008 at 11:04 am #
Great Ideas…unfortunately I agree with the issue of it working only in ‘tall ceiling’ rooms. And that would definitely work in India which is a pretty hot country and barely a small percent has air-conditioning. Most of them use ceiling fans. And with an average ceiling height in India being 8ft to 10ft, you really are going to risk having your kids losing a few body parts.
vikki on 05 Nov 2008 at 7:25 pm #
how do i get one of these…..? i totally want to make a room in my house like this!
MY on 06 Nov 2008 at 7:30 am #
I think the same as vikki…I like these furnitures so much!Really great…
Where is it possible to buy it?And…for how much(average)…?=)
Thx!

apparently a decent ammount of college students make things like this…
and i would love to have something like that in my room.. i guess if you did it low enough, while still higher up, it wouldn’t be too impractical, cause your not gonna be running around or anything up on that, just sleeping and or using a desk, so you wouldn’t need super high cielings…
however, my room wouldn’t work at all with that, because there is no place it would work, i have closets (large ones) on both sides of my room, and two windows in the room, and the door would hit the lof thingy…
so maybe i can in college..
wawa on 07 Nov 2008 at 6:52 pm #
if only dorm rooms were remotely this cool
Leena on 07 Nov 2008 at 7:45 pm #
If you had the ceiling height for it, I think these designs would be great for young to middle-aged adults (this is more of a comment toward those concerned with bed bouncing, cleaning up messes, and children rough-housing and falling off). The first and fifth design especially.
I can see the beds being a pain to make though. But that’d be something I’d be willing to put up with if I could have a bedroom like these.

I’m not a kid but I totally want one <3, they’re so organized and cute, compared to my space wasting furniture now. I love that some of them have stowaway mattresses/futons. Why can’t Canada have cool furniture like Italy?
Musekeeper on 08 Dec 2008 at 5:19 pm #
Putting storage underneath bed areas is considered bad feng shui though.
The design is clean and fun though
lycheexx on 12 Dec 2008 at 5:15 pm #
OMG these designs are SO COOL.
I wish I had that in my bedroom. And they provide so much storage space too (very much needed haha).
I love these ideas…wonder how much it will cost to actually furnish it that way because these designs kick ass.

Very innovative for the British market but have seen things like this in French mags and some go back some years… Quite like the “girlie” ones better (pink and parma colors) as I think they are more practical and beds easier to make. And as for the comments, especially those re size and height of rooms, some are completely nuts. One picture actually shows the limit between walls and ceiling so give a good idea of proportions. And maybe those negative about this range shld visit the actual website which is nmuch more substantial in the many designs possible. Granted, children “loft” rooms combinations would be slightly better in “”Edwardian” houses or any with high ceilings but look again on their website and most pieces are actually supposed to be moved so provide more space during the day… and like most things in design, you take what suits you and these can be adapted to buyers’ own needs…so go for it, they are represented/distributed in England so get in touch with them on their website and ask where to find their stuff in the UK!!!
Yuuzaa on 31 Dec 2008 at 2:56 pm #
I totaly like it. Save a lot of space.

Do you know where they sell the in Quebec , Canada????
gu on 01 Jan 2009 at 5:59 pm #
wow i wish i could use this in my dorm room
Kizzi on 02 Jan 2009 at 6:07 pm #
These are pretty fun and cool. The only problem is that the maintenance would be annoying and quite a lot of kids I know would be unwilling / unable to clean and tidy rooms like these properly.
mastamike on 12 Jan 2009 at 12:40 pm #
I bet these things are noisier than anything. Simply rolling your chair would echo throughout the room because the raised hollow platform would act like a drum.
bob on 20 Jan 2009 at 8:12 pm #
how much are these beds? I really need to know. Please someone reply!!!!!!!
Ed Smith, Palm Springs, CA on 27 Jan 2009 at 8:44 pm #
Nice designs, but only practical if you have absolutely no other alternative to work and sleep in the same space.
Megan Johnson on 31 Jan 2009 at 1:41 am #
I like them, but think they look cold and like hospital beds, setting kids up with the idea that having an office (desks) in your sleep area will make you insane – as it will.
fanty on 15 Feb 2009 at 12:54 pm #

Still awesome though.

They don’t seem that dangerous.Hopefully people do have common sense…sure somethings could happen accidentally but not that bad…I saw this one with a walk in closet underneath and I want it..but I like don’t know how much or where to get them..I also emailed them and haven’t gotten anything back yet so we will c.
