Keep in mind that professional photos with professional staging like this always tends to exagerate things. In reality, this house is not that white. These photos are so white they’re almost overexposed.

I also have a minimalist house, but this house really IS kind of cold, even to me. It’s not the house itself, it’s the furniture in combination with the house. It needs some wood, don’t ya think?

Ecology,

The fact that you’re saying this house has no relationship to its surroundings shows that you’re simply desperate to spew hate filled rants at things.

This home is worth as much as it is BECAUSE of its relationship to its surroundings. It faces onto a canal, and has large windows to take advantage of that. It has large sliding glass doors that lead out onto a deck that overlooks the canal. That is exactly the kind of design features you should expect from a house that has an excellent relationship with its surroundings, saying that it doesn’t, is just laughable and makes you look like a fool.

Even the side of the house that doesn’t face the canal does a good job of interacting with its surroundings. The architect minimized and set-back the garage, provided a visible and welcoming front door and windows, which puts forward a warm and friendly face to the street. They even put a gap in the wall in front of the house so that it wouldn’t be too closed off to the neighborhood.

Accusing this house of not maintaining a relationship to its surroundings is just rediculous. There is very little this house could be doing better than it already is.

You should feel embarassed by what you’ve written here, because you’ve really put your foot in your mouth.

Don’t lecture me Sophie. I have a minimalist house and a lack of clutter in my own life. I also design gardens for a living and part of a homes appeal is its realtionship to its surroundings-this one has NONE. I am not a moron and possess 3 college degrees(graduate included). I am perfectly capable of making my own judgements and don’t need to be told what I can and can’t say-after all this space is for comments whether you like them or not.

Ecology, just because it’s not your personal taste in design, does not make it a “Horrible soulless monstrosity.”

For many of the busy and ambitious people in this world, their lives are very hectic and stressful, so having a minimalist home with such a lack of clutter is a serene and comforting escape for them.

Now consider yourself to be educated on the subject, and in the future, have a little more tact when making comments about things you don’t understand.
