Lake House by Hutchison & Maul
Seattle’s Hutchison & Maul Architects designed this Washington State lake house.
The architects were asked to design two conflicting elements, guest/retreat space and family/active space, as close to the lake as code would allow. There was also a desire for lake access from the main residence located up the hillside, and to integrate water-sports storage and a changing/bathing room as part of the family/active space. Finally, it was important that the guest/retreat spaces feel private even when people occupy the family/active space, and of course taking advantage of the view wherever possible was an obvious choice.

LOve the design…looking for a design for myself that will incorporate, wood, stone, light, forest, water…in a ranch setting where landscape and herds can be viewed…need solar panels, water conservation, heating to be environment friendly and totally self sufficient….about 3600 sq ft.
Design must melt into the country setting.
Do you have a design such as this. Vie

I can not understand why so many designers think bare concrete is something I want to look at everyday.

Simple and elegant, but excellent design that blends with nature. A cozy homely feeling when i look at it.

Absolutely beautiful. of course this design will not appeal to EVERYONE! That is the beauty of architecture. There are so many different ideas and styles! If someone were to set out on a mission to design a house that would appeal to every type EVERYONE then that person would fail!
Beauty is different to everyone.. especially in architecture! This is a beautiful house!
P.S. Definitely wouldn’t hurt to include a few upper cabinets near the fridge..
