The Edwards Residence by Cutler Anderson Architects
The Seattle, Washington based Cutler Anderson Architects was given a modest budget to design a home for a family of four on a relatively tight, wooded, suburban lot, which is adjacent to a small suburban park. In order to reduce costs, the building was designed to both fit on the land as a single object with a minimum of surface area, and to orient all of the living spaces toward the adjacent park.

Not our standards, Chris, not ours.

I guess the same one who calls that a relatively tight lot.

I would like to be that ‘Modest’
Great house though.

It’s modest by Cutler Anderson’s standards, who typically design larger and more complicated homes.
The house looks like it’s only around 2000 square feet of floor space. It’s basically a simple rectangular box on a flat lot, with a standard peaked roof, and it doesn’t look like it has a basement. Also, the flooring in the living room appears to just be the concrete foundation. There are a number of design decisions which were probably chosen to keep costs down (ie: modest).
Where they probably spent a little extra was the post and beam work, the wood frame windows, and the custom fireplace and chimney.

Gorgeous inside but I don’t like the plain rectangular shape of the exterior.

Considering the small size of the lot, it’s unlikely the house could be anything other than a rectangle.
Besides, what’s wrong with rectangular houses?

I’d be curious to see what the bedrooms look like. It seems that a lot of the interior space has been displayed, which maybe means tiny bedrooms?
