Ofidio Dining Chair by Facundo Poj
Miami based designer Facundo Poj has sent us photos of his Ofidio Dining Chair.
From Facundo Poj:
I always start conceptualizing my pieces from a single line. Put the pencil down, give the paper a single stroke, pick the pencil up. I emulate the infinite freedom of the line of the snake. Structural strength, stability and ergonomics must all be solved with this one line; a minimal solution.

This chair is an exact copy of the walnut chair by Ladislav Czernek. And I mean exact.

I think Ladislav and this guy arrive to different points through very diferent concepts. Though some formal elements might be similar, you should see both of these guys other pieces to understand each other’s trip.

i agree with the first comment. i believe he calls it the ‘b’ chair but the beautiful thing about ladislav’s chair is that it doesn’t need those painful looking knubs at the front for stability. i can’t imagine what it feels like to whack your heel into one of those. the only thing worse than a knock off is a bad one and this one pretty much sucks.

Cool chair!! The line is organic and slender. The general composition is tall and elegant…and curvy…very sexy!!
I love the honesty of the ribbed structure without being covered by veneer, upholstery, or anything. Nice to take advantage of the positive-negative layering.
And the “bar code” like texture on the seat is very special. What wood is this?
I was looking at the work by the designer advertised on the comment by “Guerrilla”, his finishing work looks a lot like the “bamboo” line by Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta, nice, I like it.

Same shape in elevation, but I think a nice improvement.
