Glenn Murcutt would be proud of you! I adore these types of houses and am a great fan of Murcutt and I just wish the people in South Africa would appreciate this style more, it’s perfect for this climate!

The tanks are water storage. The down-pipes from the wide gutters are visible.

Excellent architecture.

But to be honest, I’ve seen too many australians copying Glenn Murcutt.

WHich is not bad, more good architecture all over the place, but so much for originality.

If you read the author’s comment, he mentions that the big barrel things are massive batteries to store energy for the photovoltaic arrays.

Those are water tanks, most likely. The butterfly roof offers very good catchment which can then be stored. I’m assuming this house is fairly remote which would necessitate having to be a bit self-sufficient when it comes to utilites/services.
