The Xarxa Chair by Marti Guixé
Spanish designer Marti Guixé has created the Xarxa chair for the Italian manufacturer Danese.
The multipurpose seat has a structure in birch wood, with the armrest and back made of metal rods, while five removable cushions allow you to use them in any way you can imagine.

Ugh. This looks like student furniture, at best. And who did the Photoshop work on these photos? They only add to the “design student” look and feel of this.

Ok, if anyone does zing Zach I’m outta here.
I made cute comments about the “ugly” chair and incited a firestorm of comments about my stupidity and inability to understand design and how it conveys emotions and…. zzzzzzz..
But I guess what comes around goes around… I actually like the concept of the chair, however impractical it would be, you’ll never see my using my womb chair ottoman for a kitchen step stool, but whatever works… I like the way the chair hides and holds you in place at the same time and bends in every direction. The base, bleh, but it’s got some good ideas that if refined would make it worth whatever exorbitant price I’m sure they’re asking.

I feel ya Lance. This site is full of comments from people who seem to LOVE anything you throw at them. “Here is a white box on a hill. Don’t worry, there is the token Eames lounge in the corner, it’s designer!” And then the comments on here come flooding out about how AMAZING the white box on a hill is.
As for the chair, I agree… there is something interesting about the way this chair can be configured in different ways, but the base and coverings make it look handmade, and not in a good way. The photography doesn’t help either and last but not least, the “models” who look like they fell right out of your favorite liberal arts/design program and onto this chair.
