Redmond Street Houses by Bojan Simic
The site at Redmond Street is uniquely perched on top of a land crest that descends rapidly towards the Yarra River and Studley Park in Melbourne’s inner eastern suburb of Kew. The symmetrical footprint is divided into two zoned wings, one for parents and one for children. The central spine accommodating the living zones unites the two wings via frameless glass links. The pavilion inspired houses are nestled into the tiered natural land form and characterized by large expanses of glass providing thermal insolation and balanced natural light to interior spaces along with elevated views of surrounding parkland and distant cityscape. The projecting blade-like skillion roof form provides passive thermal control to interiors during the summer months as does the curved timber batten screen which softens the sharp geometric lines of the exterior composition.

Interesting, but definitely not a place to live. Too cold, almost sterile, not even the splashes of colour help

I love all these houses for robots because there sure isn’t any sort of human impact in them.

Sigh, these homes are staged, well the majority of the ones that are up for sale anyway.
It’s left up to the owners to bring in their photos, colors, memories and make the house personal.
I agree, that kitchen island, though far from original, is still one of my favorite compositions, marble. It’s not on my list of top ten favorite homse I’ve seen on the website, but it’s definitely not in the bottom ten either.

The metal screening is too industrial looking and spoils the facade. It is similar to fences near freeways and airports.

The lighting in the kitchen is beautiful. The lines just capture the rigidness of the house. The marble’s texture adds a little bit of flavour. Absolutely stunning. I have to see it when i go to Melbourne.
