This is a very lovely development; well designed inside and out, well proportioned, nicely displayed. Apparently you have some tough critics or the comments were made by those who don't understand residential design, marketing, etc. (Lance, money is always an object.)

I like the mix of materials, exterior detailing and site design. I presume garage access is a bit tight on this site and that the units on the right have outdoor parking off street, but that is probably okay for homes in Seattle where public transportation options are improving and bicycling abounds.

This is very typical of Dwell's designs. They're not exceptional homes, but they are more affordable than most and have some great touches here and there. If money were no object I'm sure they could rise to the task.

The picture of the living interior in the second home looks odd. The kitchen should have switched places with the dining table.

Roof top decks are great. I wish my house had one.

I think the exterior suffers a bit from the lack of contrast. Grey on grey tends to look washed out and drab.

For the house on the right, I would prefer to have wood where the aluminum is around the windows. That way it would both harmonize with an existing material on the house, as well as providing contrast to the grey stucco.

I like the interiors, but not so much the exteriors. Although, I assume these are designed to be affordable, rather than to win architectural awards, so I guess I should adjust my expectations accordingly.
