The Scuba Lounge by Brodie Neill
Designer Brodie Neill has created the Scuba lounge for the manufacturer Domodinamica.
With sweeping lines that take inspiration from the aerodynamics of high performance sports cars, Scuba displays a still sense of movement as its contours flow between seat and structure.
The name Scuba refers to the underwater adventure where many graceful species can be witnessed drifting the seas with ease and elegance. The elevated seat spanning over 2 metres is fringed with the sweeping sides reaching down to the floor like the wings of a manta ray.
Scuba’s self supporting strength is achieved through the ever-undulating curve, bending and coving to provide structure within a 3-dimensional curvilinear surface. The raised backrest maintains overall rigidity with its concaved cross-section that slowly opens as the swooping lines skim to the floor.
Available in gloss finished lacquer with optional leather cover.

No. I like Neill’s E-Turn bench (made for Kundalini), but this looks childish & cheap (which I’m sure isn’t price wise). Neill has taken a step in the wrong direction with this one. Doesn’t look good at all. Doesn’t even look original. Grade: D- (it’s not an F because of his past designs & his name)

Overly red,
overly plastic,
overly pretentious.

I really like the boldness and the clean lines of the lounge…maybe not the best for a home but I could definitely see this in a hotel lobby or by a poolside. I’m curious to see what it looks like with the cover on. Another nice piece by Brodie Neill.

I also really like this design! Yes it is bold but it’s also light. Its got beautiful lines from all directions
and is very much a Brodie Neill design. Love the color!
