Shelter series is two chairs and a table/stool. The furnitures are stabile and protective. Shelter series is like an aura around you, airy and transparent. The Clip Table by Christian Olufemi for Mobimex

Christian Olufemi has designed the Clip Table for Swiss manufacturer Mobimex.

As the name Clip suggests, the steel underframe recalls the elegant, flowing shape of a clip. Together with the solid wood table top it forms an individual and dynamic whole, a fusion which is the hallmark of good design. The tapered shape of the supports enhances their proportions while maintaining full stability, and is complemented by the pattern of the table top.

The Plateau Lounge Chair by Erik Magnussen

Danish designer Erik Magnussen has created the Plateau lounge chair for the Copenhagen based furniture manufacturer Engelbrechts.

The chair has been christened Plateau, since its right armrest has a wide flat surface on which the user can place his/her Dry Martini, remote control or even a laptop.

The chair is 120 cm tall and set on a highly finished aluminium base which is available with or without automatic return swivel. Plateau is manufactured in cold foam on top of hard foam, which creates a very comfortable seat. Plateau is available with leather or textile covers. Its challenging organic shape has led to new production processes that minimise sewing. As a result, the chair only has two pieces of textile or leather: one for the seat and one for the backrest.

The designer Erik Magnussen found inspiration for Plateau by contemplating the shape of his own left hand. Erik’s thumb inspired the chair’s plateau and his other fingers the backrest.

The Light Container by Jung Hwa Jin

Korean designer Jung Hwa Jin has sent us photos of The Light Container.

From the designer:

I expressed new culture that comes from the difference of expression in describing the word “putting in” between the east and the west. Using the language, I created a new language design that gives us unreal feelings with western illumination and Korean container. Sense of suspense was expressed through the type of piled containers and there’s an electric bulb at the bottom of the container. With the language of formative arts, the expression “putting in” was drawn out. As a result, considerate contemplation was elicited through traditional properties of containers and the illumination of foreign culture.

The Big Mama Floor Lamp by Estela+Nereo

Barcelona based Estela+Nereo Associates, a young studio established by Ferran Estela and Nereo Delgado, have designed the Big Mama floor lamp for the Norwegian manufacturer Northern Lighting.

From the manufacturer:

Big Mama is a large floor lamp made out of paper and wood ––basic and eco–friendly Nordic materials – that are used for the shade and the body respectively. Big Mama represents more than simple illumination of space. Big Mama does light up a room, but at the same time it gives the space character and personality. Its shape tells us intuitively more about its function. Simple, direct… with its iconic and super classical shape, there is no doubt this is a lamp. And yet at the same time the strong, dominant and sculptural character of the object resembles that of an item which does not need to possess a mere function in order to justify its existence.
