The Make It Better Collection by Lagranja

Make it Better is a new line of kit furniture from the Portuguese manufacturer Movelpartes.
The Barcelona based Lagranja design studio have created two pieces for the collection, the Mus desk and the Birdie table, both are designed to be very low cost democratic objects that are easy and fast to assemble.

From Lagranja:

Designing Mus and Birdie we wanted to play with new rules: no screws and junctions, just interlockings and a little imagination. A new construction system for simple but formally rich and attractive objects. Mus is a witting-desk that reinterprets the archetype of the trestle table in a funny way; Birdie is the answer to the question: How to make something curved and transparent with flat and opaque elements?

Watch a short video of the desk and table being assembled – here.

The Etch Chair by Elizabeth Cordes

American designer Elizabeth Cordes has sent us photos of the Etch chair that she has designed for the Brooklyn, New York manufacturer Material Process Systems (MPS).

The chair was created to be part of the RE/BUILD exhibition at Brooklyn’s Gallery 1889.

Faced with a slowing economy and excess capacity, while having access to surplus materials, idle machinery, underutilized manpower, and a vacant storefront, MPS created the RE/BUILD challenge. Six designers were invited to design and develop products using only the resources available at the MPS shop. The furniture, sculpture, and objects of intrigue resulting from this collaborative endeavor have been put on display at Gallery 1889 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
