I will be very nice once they finish it. Wait, all that hideous concrete is meant to be exposed? Pitty, it makes it completely uninhabitable.

Well, back to the house... I like it because it uses the wood to soften the bunker like concrete. I did get the distinct feeling of an entire forest being clearcut for the sake of one persons design aesthetic. At least they used in well I suppose. The track lighting threw me though.

I'm terribly sorry Graham and Jane. I posted my comments after enjoying a very stout drink after a long day of work. I completely missed the region the home was in and I thank you two for both pointing that out. As long as I'm being bitter...

"I sues this family will be safe when the bomb goes off inside their bunker. Where is the furniture, the human spaces and the warmth?"

You're going to sues the family Graham? I hope you have a good lawyer.

And Susan, in case you think I was insulting either the Japanese or Korean cultures by "mixing" them up. Japanese and Korean language constructs are very, very similar and their design aesthetics are quite close as well, so I'm glad an Asian scholar such as yourself was around to point out my egregious mistake. Thank you so very much. I shall now commit seppuku in your honor.

A very novel and fresh way of blending traditional with modern.

Some elements make me think of a fortress.

Outstanding! One could get lost in the interior, but I imagine it's easy to find your way around once you've lived there.... This structure molds intricate concrete with beautiful wood in stunning detail. I'll take two!

Korea actually, not Japan. Says so in great big bold letters in the title.

I sues this family will be safe when the bomb goes off inside their bunker. Where is the furniture, the human spaces and the warmth?

I'd happily use it as a storage facility for my stuff but could never live in it.

A little sparse after a lot of the homes we've seen here, but that's the whole point of a Japanese modern home.

What blew me away was fifth photo. It is absolutely stunning.

Perhaps the owner feels he/she is being haunted and the ghosts will get lost. It is Japan after all.

I guess this house highlights the amount of wood sacrificed for a single homeowner. At least it's honest.
