Danielle Lago (lago-it.com) has a similar creation (2004) that moves in any direction, with special sliding mechanism.
This drawer is more simple, but very clever and functional.
I love... ;-P

Nice and compact. Sleek. Love the fact that it's not immediately obvious that it's a set of drawers.

Very nice piece. The slide is amazingly simple. Perfect for the piece because it isn't obvious at first.

Excellent work.

The concept isn't exactly new, Shay Alkalay does a wittier version for Established and Sons, but the execution, the ability to open in two directions, is. Paired with the simple lines and veneer, this piece would definitely find it's way into many modern homes. Plus it looks like it would actually store a lot. I would love to see the glides in side of this sucker. Kudos.
