House in Dominican Republic by A-cero Architecture
The benign climate that prevails during the whole year in the Caribbean island, as well as the situation of the plot of 7.000 m2 first coast line, they determine in advance the project executed by A-cero Studio.
With a singular architectural idea and a certain level of risky, peculiar of the team that Joaquin Torres directs. There appear two blocks well separated from that there arises a game of curved volumes that look for the vertical position from the covering.
The housing is projected by demand of program of needs of the client, in only one plant. There is dressed the whole house of an indigenous stone of Coralline of clear tones (white – beige) that, to part of the proper quality of the material, a visual aspect that prospers with the abundant solar light, and the marine reference.
From the principal access, the house seems to hide behind an attainment of curved walls that believe a sculptural set. In the middle, a big door of two sheets in wood leads to the housing. The whole housing has crossed ventilation, this way to be able to make use of all the advantages of the Caribbean climate especially the sea breeze.
Interiors are proposed with furniture designed by A-cero and made to measurement, practically the whole production was realized in Spain. But very overloaded ambiences do not want to be created not of pronounced decoration, claiming a certain simplicity inside the big interior spaces. The stone of exterior Coralline interferes inside to offer visual continuity, in addition to there is this a material much adapted for the warm present climate the whole year. The whole housing one can say that it is opened on the outside in practically all his fronts, with big practicable large windows. The exterior sensation – interior ends up by getting lost putting the gardens inside the house.

My kids would love to live in a house that looks like a skateboard park.

seeing the toilets enclosed in a glass cubicle is a nice juxtaposition to the open shower..love it!

WTF!?
horrible
pure free formalism,
why does the bathroom have 2 WC separeted by transparent glass? for the smell???

Completly surnatural!
why not a flying saucer? how is it possible to build such unhuman house as possible !
no colors ,no natural material ….

Don’t understand cactus comment re no natural materials. I love this place. I’m not all together sure about the bath being open to the elements. I don’t understand why the toilet has to be partitioned either but that’s just me. when I win the lottery and learn to swim, I will one day aquire this place. I will also get over my inhibition re the toilet and the bath!

This is mindblowing! Finally a house with a beautiful roof. The curves contrast with the straight elements and there is subtle repetion of form. Not a totally warped building like Hadid and others are churning out their computers.
The enclosed wc’s are easily explained. Basically it is an inverted shower cubicle.

WOW …. simply
That is in this country ???
Where is that ??

I agree with the the past two comments of WTF and sterile! There is nothing about this place that says “home.” It looks very hard and difficult to actually live in. Oh and one more agreement, I’d rather live in a hammock on the beach. It would be a lot more comfortable and a undoubtably less expensive!

I love the reversal of the glass walls in the shower. The shower is curb less and the toilets behind a frameless shower enclosure.
So amazing.

Wish there were people in these photos to make this piece of architecture into home.

I love it. At first I thought that it was too sterile, but after looking at more pictures I realized that it wasn’t trying to compete with the natural setting. Why clutter up the inside when you have that view?

I saw many blogs re post this, I think Kanye called it a skateboarder’s dream house. I like it, and I’m a big fan of all white, but this is definitely a bit too much white, even white sand beach. A little color would help. Amazing still and a beautiful place.

I also thought of some snide comments like, “designed with the millionare skateboarder in mind” I really want to dislike it but I think there is an elegance to it. I see a curve concept that is well executed. Not for me but I still think I like it.

Would look great in black.

Beautiful but would get boring after a while. Too sterile for my taste. Looks great in magazines but I wouldn’t want to live there. I like color which gives a home more character.
