The Stripe Chair by Joachim King
Joachim King, a Glasgow, Scotland-based furniture designer/builder, has sent us the Stripe chair.
Although it shares a similar form with the classic Panton Chair, instead of being made from plastic, the swept curves of this chair are made by building it up in several layers, each cut from birch plywood using CNC cutting technology.

A design company in Brazil has designed in 2008 a similar chair called Pantosh.
The design of the Pantosh chair was born of the fusion of the Panton chair by Verner Panton (created in 1968), and the Willow Chair, designed by Scottish architect C. Mackintosh (created between 1902-1904).
The chair makes strong yet subtle references to the roots of Brazilian culture, expressing a true “mongrel” philosophy that highlights the elements of myscegenation and syncretism in the Brazilian people.
