During Milan Design Week 2010, Italian designers Alessandro Antoniazzi and Walter Davanzo exhibited their Paperboard Innovation project at Superstudio in Zona Tortona.

Description from the designer:

Hundreds of butterflies are chasing each other. This graphical scenery creates the lounging space to sit in. The aesthetical lightness of the butterfly is transferred to the filigree realisation of the chaise longue.

STAR Pendant Lamps by Rodrigo Vairinhos

At this year’s SaloneSatellite show in Milan, we met Rodrigo Vairinhos of NEO Design, who was exhibiting his STAR Pendant Lamps.

STAR is a diamond shaped pendant lamp, inspired by Origami constructions. STAR features a composition of folded surfaces that are similar to the flexibility and lightness of paper. Lightness and flexibility also played an important role when it came to the material selection. 2mm aluminium plate was the raw material selected in order to create the whole structure.

The designer tried to concentrate his work on the light/shadow interaction between the core lighting bulb and the object itself, as it provides a reflection on its high glossy surfaces.

The Iklips Sofa by Kei Senga

At this year’s SaloneSatellite show in Milan, we met Japanese designer Kei Senga, who was exhibiting the Iklips Sofa (aka. Eclipse Sofa). Iklips has two layers of foam with a middle layer of clear-acrylic that allows light to shine through from the other side.
