The Fish House by Guz Architects
Guz Architects have completed the Fish House in Singapore.

.
Description of the Fish House by Guz Architects:
This modern tropical bungalow encapsulates the essence of living in the hot and humid climate of Singapore by creating open spaces which encourage natural ventilation and offer residents views to the ocean.
The main design concept is to create a house which has close relationship with nature and this is achieved by having a swimming-pool linking the house with the landscape and ultimately visual connections with the sea. The idea of connection is reinforced by having the basement level media-room with a u-shaped acrylic window which allows diffuse natural light in and also views out into the pool. The curved roofs, which symbolizing the sea waves, also emphasize the idea of the nearby sea. These are almost totally covered with thin bendable photovoltaic panels supplying enough energy to the house, while the remaining area is used as a green roof giving residents some outdoor leisure spaces.
Fish House is a modest and yet luxurious residential design which gives residents opportunities to live in harmony and comfortably with nature.

Love the photovoltaic panels and how they have been used.
But “modest”? I don’t think so. A stunning structure none-the-less.

Breathtaking! I am in awe.

Absolute heaven to have a house like that! The architect is a genius!!!

The architecture of this house is absolutely stunning! The interior though, could be more of a match for such beautiful structure. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful, but not as good as the general structure in my opinion.

Wow, what a great house. That pool room is fantastic. I would turn the TV off and just hire synchronized swimmers to come over and put on a show.
The main house makes me think of John Lautner’s early designs but updated. The pool is a refreshing design with all the free form curves to it.

The house is absolutely amazing with the flawless integration of the pool around it, but the interior decorating could be more innovative. The furniture just doesn’t match the level of the house itself.

Exterior has great flow to it. Suggesting more congruity perhaps with wood incorporating the natural flow within to finish the appearance of stylish serenity. Well done!

I agree with everyone else. Save for some questionable furniture choices, this home is just stunning. The pool area is what knocks this one out of the park for me.

Beautiful, Very similar to the Birdcage houses built here in Florida only with a millennium modern look instead of mid-century modern. LOVE the green roof.

Beautiful. I wish that everyone could enjoy a home as such. It’s a little humorous that the word modest was used but maybe the reference is to heated square footage, perhaps

thank you all for your shared appreciation. We had fun designing it. I can tell you that our home is as wonderful to live in as it is to look at…and the TV is no longer on the ground!

This house is really beautiful!! I love the pool and the usage of wood! Could we have more details like the floor area, an idea of the cost, any technical details? Thanks.
guz on 09 Jul 2010 at 7:57 pm #
the overall floor area is about 540sqm and cost was in the region of S$2.5m though construction costs in singapore have gone up considerably since then…..
technical details?? there were a lot! suggest you contact me personally via our website if you need any particular tech info.

The architecture is inspired. I love the light and space created by the different levels. The connection to the sea is very successful. Shame the interiors don’t exude the same confidence as the building itself. Did the clients use an interior designer?
noopie on 10 Jul 2010 at 5:51 pm #
Wow, this is inspiring. I love the 2 palms oasis surround by the pool outside. Hope to see more house like this in Singapore.
A couple of things though:
Too much “yang” in the bathroom and i am not sure if the entertainment room gets enough airflow.

My first thought was that you cannot possibly have guests in this house if you want to take a shower..or use the toilet (!)
..then I moved to the next picture and saw where the house is build!
Let’s assume, you don’t have guests..that doesn’t mean you’re safe from a “third eye”!!
..I’m still in love with this house! I’d just used some walls or curtains at least for the bathroom:p
this is still breataking

This house is absolutely stunning – everything from the form to the sustainability assurance to the out of the park pool room. Fabulous. Bravo Guz!

This is very beautiful design. Looking for the pool location where used by glass different the traditional material(concretes and tiles) as well. Also, it runs around the house look like the house is an isle. Perfect this design plus nice view so make 8 points
