The Tangga House by Guz Architects
Guz Architects have sent us some images of the Tangga House in Singapore.

.
Description from Guz Architects:
The house is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional courtyard house, laid out around a central green courtyard with a double height stair and entry area forming the focal point of the project. The L-shaped plan creates open spaces which encourage natural ventilation and offer resident’s views over the courtyard to the verandah, roof gardens and beyond. Lushly planted roof gardens surround the house and add to the effect that nature is evident in every part of the house. The large roof above the courtyard creates an indoor and outdoor space leading to the gardens and swimming pool which wraps around two sides of the house. The tangga house hopefully gives the owners the opportunity to live in harmony and comfort with nature, in singapores hot tropical climate.

This house reminded me soo much of The Fish House post recently on here, and then I realized it was from the same architects.
These guys (Guz Architects) is quickly become one of my favorites

This is truly perfection, the balance, the textures.
Well Done!

That’s amazing!

Too bad we only get to see various shots of one area of the home. As amazing as this area is, it doesn’t give us a good idea of what Guz Architects can do.

Stunning house, the swimming pool left me speechless. I’d love to see the interior, too.

Incredible – love the underwater room and the use of the glass to get the water above ground level

Any pictures of the actual living areas?
Jaroslaw on 23 Jul 2010 at 7:12 am #
Let me be the first one (and probably the last one) to say that I don’t like it. Just too many things going on it that house for me. Maybe that was the brief: bigger, shameless, useless?
Alexandra on 23 Jul 2010 at 7:16 am #
This is so amazing. I had to take a quadruple take at that pool, because it’s unreal! Yes, any interior pictures?

It’ wonderful, it’s something free, it’s natural, it’s a beauty!

obviously, this is about the pool. The pool is the star. I like the fish house better. This house is just boring to me. I don’t like the concrete staircase, it’s so bland. In my opinion, floating wooden stairs would have been a better choice.

Me WANT! Classy, clean, open, bright, liveable — I could go on and on. A excellent execution of contemporary mixed with some of the thematic lines of the modern movement of the 1960′s and 70′s. A true winner!

the pool is amazing.

what… my comment doesn’t get posted cause i was too critical of the design?
fine, i’ll put it in less harsh of a set of words: it sucks.
it’s this high and mighty attempt at being glamorous, but it fails miserably. 5 of the 8 pictures are of the exact same space, leaving little to no imagination about what was done in the other spaces. Then upon looking at the pictures we DO have, it’s nothing that special. It’s a giant open space with a pool that offers little use. glass walls? really? it screams of ungodly maintenance and problems down the road. the window looking into the living space from the pool is a dated at best concept, leaving a room with a CONSTANT blue lighting scheme.
I’m sorry, but it’s not that special. My first reaction was “wow, that’s cool” and then about 10 seconds later reality kicked in.

I love this? Just amazing… if only you’d posted more pictures. Great inspiration, though
guz on 26 Jul 2010 at 2:06 pm #
sorry guys, we would love to send you pictures of the interior and all but the owners are very private people and we have to respect their wishes.

Wow!!!! That house is so unique. The more I look at it the more I appreciate the individual elements. I would feel like I was on vacation everyday living in that house. What a piece of art!

Touched by genius. Simply incredible. Love this house.
Lurkz on 28 Jul 2010 at 2:29 am #
woww dude, can we like hire you guys? cause its looks phenomenal, i bet this costs expensive
Lurkz on 28 Jul 2010 at 2:31 am #
BTW zero34 can u actually do better?
Lance on 28 Jul 2010 at 4:24 pm #
Ah, Zero34, we are cut of the same mold. I think our worst posts are left on the cutting room floor.
BTWZ on 29 Jul 2010 at 6:28 am #
I agree with Zero34, it isn’t THAT special. Its nice, but the number of posts that go “amazing” “genius” “incredible” is a bit of a stretch.
Its also not about someone being able to “actually do better”, we’re posting our views on something irregardless of our personal ability.
All down to personal taste, I’m just surprised how so many have reacted to positively when I don’t see it as something that special.
Sorry Guz, I guess you don’t care as your clients are probably very happy.

The design of this space that we are able to see is fantastic. It goes to show that creativity is only limited by the imagination, and the size of your pocket book. I am sure the one room would give off a blue light which is a positive in my eyes. This is used as the calming room based lighting. The rest of the rooms you must use your imagination for based on the photos provided and their previous fish house. The gardens on the terrace and the windows through out do a great job of bringing the outdoors in.
I could go on and on, but short and sweet is often better than getting a stomach ache.
also iregardless isn’t a word.

Why the hell worry about maintenance so much…u r limiting ur creativity ….and if they can built this…they afford maintenance..its been considered…. architecture has a broad spectrum ..this is a good example of one of them….
