The Hotchkiss Residence by Scott Edwards Architecture
Scott Edwards Architecture have designed the Hotchkiss Residence in Vancouver, Washington.

.
Project description:
This home designed by Rick Berry of Scott|Edwards Architecture, rests on the banks of the Columbia river in Vancouver, Washington. The home exemplifies a northwest contemporary vernacular in its 2,000sf. The one level home, built for a retired couple, was placed on the site to maximize the southern view to the river. A large overhang creates a dynamic outdoor living room and creates enough overhang to shield the harsh rays of the sun from penetrating the interior of the home. Radiant floor heating, exposed wood structure and walnut cabinetry create a contemporary, yet warm home.

This is post and beam perfection.
Wish it was in Vancouver BC.

So very neat and elegant. Excellent use of space and orientation. Personally, I would go for slightly lighter colors on the interior(floor and furnishings) but the existing choices are cleverly applied to blend the outdoor and indoor pallets, and I guess reflect the lifestyle of the owners. Overall, a very elegant open plan house. Some floor plans would be appreciated, plus more pics. Thanks

Not a bad structure. But the dining chairs are so bland and yucky.

Lovely. Although not my cup of tea, the new furniture is also much more appropriate than the old, seen in photos 4 and 5.

Need more pics to understand layout of other rooms. Nice for home for a retirement lifestyle.

Rustic Modern perfection. I wish they built more like this in Southern California. You have to go back to the seventies to find any good examples like Barry Berkus did in his hey day.

Very well done, a well balanced building, a good use of timber. I like when wood is not just used to wrap up a concrete wall, as an expensive wallpaper. This is a real wooden building!

Nice shell. The interior cabinets/furniture and lighting are already dated. Hope it was only staged for the photo shoot.
