The Hurtado Residence by Mark Tracy of Chemical Spaces
American designer Mark Tracy of Chemical Spaces has completed the Hurtado Residence in
Las Vegas, Nevada.

.
Description from the designer:
The intent of this design was to create a modern, art-gallery-style space to entertain hip, young guests and partygoers. The 11-foot custom-designed aluminum front door opens to striped Italian floor tile, a three-story elevator tower surrounded with custom art, and a floating staircase trimmed with stainless steel. A 14-foot wide fireplace is the primary feature of the kitchen and living space, accompanied by Scavolini cabinets and metallic silver hardwood floors. Blue LED lighting glows around the second tier ceiling which extends from the kitchen and down the media wall and fireplace; it also accents the ceiling of the master bath.
The residence is located in The Ridges, an upscale custom home community to the west of Las Vegas nearing Red Rock Canyon. The home is 10,000 square feet.
Design began in June of 2009 and construction was completed in January of 2011.

Way too shiny, lay-off the reflective materials. Wall-to-wall shag carpet, really? Don’t even get me started on the blue LED lighting!

Having just moved OUT of las vegas, I’ve had the “pleasure” of seeing this house before i could move. It’s nice, but there’s no way you could get me to live in this without expecting me to go nuts in due time.
I love contemporary design and all, but this would be painful living!

Oh, wow, what a stunning mausoleum…with just a little work it can become a nice public library. For now, careful using the stairs though; you may manage a hard landing on the first floor with a broken neck. Thanks.

why would anyone want their home to look like the underside of a pimped out low-rider? Lose the LED

Looks like the inside of a new concept car from the Shanghai motor show, lots of blue lights and modern interior that’s kinda cold. The outside has nice tones, not my style but i don’t mind it, but inside is too much. Not being from USA i would have thought that Vegas architecture would possibly take some inspiration form the ‘strip’ but this seems a little pointless. Also the relation to the art gallery…. missed that one a little i think.

I wish I could love the design but the home will look dated in a few years time – a lot of a lot of a lot of stuff in here, kudos for the guts in going there but ..

This modern design employs details that are interesting and provocative, such as the paintings and the fireplace. Therefore the plain-ness of the architecture works to advantage for the viewer. Bravo!

Conceived in an unnatural world where Jenga and lite brite can conceive an out of wedlock offspring. Vegas, baby! Embrace.

HAHAH I totally agree with SE !! This feels more like a nightclub, than a home.

Miami Vice reincarnated!
Is it just me or did the front door remind anyone else of a bank vault?

You pessimists are a bunch of chodes. My uncle rocked this house. And you’re all just too busy having your heads up your own asses to see that.

Whatever. I could not live in this house. Sure the design pushes the envelope, it just pushes it the wrong way. I am not even sure if I consider this house that creative, just a bunch of gimmicks that create an unlivable space. It’s a Nice night club thou.

The exterior reminds me of something that should be at an amusement park of some sort…the inside proves to be just as tacky. While someone’s uncle may have “rocked” the house, it just does not appeal to me since I don’t go “clubbing” or stuffing my nose full of white powder. just another abuse of space and money

“Three story elevator tower surrounded by custom art.” That made me laugh out loud.

like Vegas, garish and overdone….

The first thing I thought was Miami Vice. I love how it is so differrent to normal houses. I agree it is a rocked house.

Impressive in its vulgarity.

The exterior is a poor Frank Lloyd Wright rip-off, the inside is as appealing and exciting as the inside of an empty cardboard box. Even an August in Vegas could’t warm up this place

It is perfect for what it is trying to accomplish, Its a las Vegas Shag Pad. Generated lots of comments.

Just goes to show that money does not equal taste.
I kept looking for the retractable stripper pole in the master bedroom.

DeeJay- jenga and litbrite- i love it, priceless. What needs to be remembered is that this is in Las Vegas. This is the only place where such a house fits. The strip has a sphinx, the Eiffel Tower, a pyramid all in the same zip code. This house fits into the boundary-less fantasy world it inhabits. Outside Vegas- way out of place; inside Vegas- par for the course.
