Gazoline Petrol Station by Damilano Studio Architects
The design of a service station is a strong reference to the idea of travel, short or long-distance routes interrupted only by a few stops and then back on the road. A break for refueling, or just to stretch a bit ‘legs before continuing his journey. With the same continuity, the service station is separated from the asphalt like a ribbon of road with the engine and wrapping around itself, creating a temporary volume to accommodate the traveler. The tape then sink back into the ground to continue to other destinations.
The architecture of the service station, as usually conceived as a mere support function, thus acquires a shape. The architecture, static by definition, becomes closely linked to the concept of continuous flow that envelops and becomes the urban landscape without interruption. The shell reinforced concrete, cast in special molds fluidized is closed by glass walls. Are distributed within the office manager and a self-service, separate bathrooms from the block in central position. On the rear elevation red steel block is detached from the body and a wolf howling, illuminated at night, draws attention to the urgent needs.

pretty cool! For some reason i reminds me of the USA in the early 60′s. This is such a cool project, so neat and relaxing on the eye. Well done. Hope all rest areas looked like this one! Bravissimo!

This project is heavily influenced by Zaha Hadid’s work…but is really quite lovely.
Wish the UK had such beautiful petrol stations!

awesome, but 1 pump? How are they gonna pay for the build? Must be the only station on the road within 400 km

if you watch the photos before comment, you’ll see more pumps on the other side of the building. And anyway, what has it to do with the design? the architect puts the number of pumps required by the client so is not a topic to be commented in an architecture website

@ Shane and jasbir. That pump is in the rear of the facility and is intended for Trucks. Note the higher canopy and you will see many for pumps in the rendering. This makes sense for a rural station as the trucks will be serviced out of the way from the passenger cars.

oops, my bad. Thanks Technoid. & to pol, it matters because the main photo shows the single pump which is far more attractive than the multi pump side, what a shame
