The Sliding Top by Minimal
Minimal have sent us images of their Sliding Top kitchen, designed by Stefano Venier.

.
Description from Minimal:
While the countertop silently slides ahead through a gentle push, it reveals both a singular induction stainless steel cooktop and a retractable faucet. When it’s open, the top serves as a sophisticated linear table that can be a bar, a serving or a dining space, while closed the kitchen forms a unique block.

LOVELY! however, does it lock in place at any given length? wouldn’t want to be using the sink when someone leans on the “bar”
none the less, GREAT looking results, definitely leaves you able to make your kitchen look even more minimalistic when “not in use”

It looks nice but I doubt it’s usefulness. The kitchen loses its efficiency once the faucet, sink and cooktop are hidden. What’s the point of this? Don’t you have a table or bar? I think people who can afford this are rich enough to have big kitchen space and can afford another counter/table/bar. This is better off left in showrooms. Good looking doesn’t equal good design.

This is a very creative idea.

Not so creative that Boffi didn’t think of it first. This has been done by others before.

This is a great idea for people who do a lot of entertaining. It provides more space for food and wine to be set up and takes away the utilities that no one wants to see when they are entertaining such as the sink and oven. It essentially makes the kitchen (where many people end up gathering during an event anyway) into a more viable entertaining space. Clever.

I love it.
Totally functional; if you want to use it keep it open, if it’s not being used close it up and you get clean lines in the kichen.
And there is nothing to say it can’t always be open depending on how you use your kitchen. Looks good either way.
Where do i get one in Australia?

I agree that it doesn’t really have much usefulness but it looks slick.

Absolutely love it! It may not be suitable for a person who cooks all the time, but it is perfect for people who likes to keep their kitchen clean and neat at all time.
