Fairmont Pacific Rim Penthouse Interior by Robert Bailey
Canadian interior designer Robert Bailey has completed a penthouse apartment interior in downtown Vancouver, Canada.

.
Description from Robert Bailey:
6400 square foot Penthouse on two levels, the 47th and 48th floors (plus 49th roof deck) of the Fairmont Building in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
We designed this penthouse for a couple who include Vancouver amongst their global destinations. The project was carried out in two phases, one during the construction of the base building and the second when the suite was handed over to the owner.
Having worked with the clients on previous homes (in West Vancouver + London), our direction was understood. The home was to be comfortably luxurious and visually quiet.
Materials for the skin of the apartment are warm and neutral, wide plank bleached oak flooring, walnut doors and millwork, taupe stone and marble. We custom designed the furniture in a scale to befit the commodious spaces, but also with heirloom quality craftsmanship and materials. The spaces were planned to suit entertaining large groups or intimate gatherings equally well. The style of the apartment is modern with respect for traditional values of comfort and ease of use.

It’s a gorgeous place. The living room pendant could’ve been bigger and funkier. It looks miniscule in the large, lofty room.

It looks like a vanilla hotel suite. Nothing really appealing and interesting. No indication whatsoever of the owners’ unique personalities and quirks.
Pass…

Oh, and the chandelier above the living room looks so lonesome up there in the sky.

I like to look at photos of crazy homes and interiors that other people have done, but in reality, something like this interior is what I prefer to actually live in.

Yawwwwwn. So painfully tasteful. A multi-million dollar penthouse that looks like a hotel lobby. When you’ve got that sort of money to spend, why not be at least a LITTLE adventurous?

Beige+Beige+Beige= Booooring.

Needs some color. While I love the use of neutral colors, too much of anything is no bueno.
The floor plans is disappointing considering that killer view. More terrace space please. For a creme of the crop penthouse, I would expect a private pool and spa on the terrace.

What’s with the closed drapes on the upper windows in the Living Room? Takes away form the totality of the glass box vision.
R: others comments: I didn’t mind the monochrome color scheme given the accents in the Asian inspired art work and pottery.

They probably closed the drapes because of the sun.

I agree, lacking colour & personality. All the wood work (built in & furniture) obviously done by the same hand. Done well mind you but looks like a kit

Nice ensuite! Very neutral but the wood compliments well with the scenary. With the best view of Vancouver in Coal Harbour, theres no need for funky design and pop colours. The use of wood, marble, tile, compliments well with the mountains, water, sunset/rise, seaplanes, cruiseships…etc.

Wow the view is amazing. Living in Vancouver myself, I appreciate the natural beauty of the outdoors. Anyways, it’s hard to decorate rooms in such a grand scale. The owners wanted a more muted style but it comes off as very beige and boring…
