Infinity Bench by Andrew Williams and Tom Huang
Andrew Williams and Tom Huang have created the Infinity Bench.
.
Infinity is a bench that explores the possibilities of bamboo strip construction. The process of designing and constructing the bench was done by Andrew Williams and Tom Huang. The idea came after building “The Comfort Girls”, a set of three cocktail tables built using the same techniques. We wanted to see if the strip making process, originally used in the construction of wooden canoes, was structural enough to be implemented into a seating project. The infinity bench is designed as public seating for the lobby of a museum or gallery.

“It’s a lotta job”!
A beautiful labor of love!
Beautifully crafted too-
what’s the green “End Cap(s)” made of?

Awesome! Just wish it didn’t need those small legs that touch the ground, and that the outermost ribs were the only things that touched the ground.

Thank you for the comments. The green end caps are vacuum formed acrylic.

Chris, thanks for the comment. The feet are always an issue. In this case, it was a matter of structural integrity. One thing the feet do here is help ground the object. It is something recognizable so that when someone approaches the bench, they understand it is functional.
