Camarines House by A-cero
A-cero Architects have designed the Camarines House in Madrid, Spain.
.
Description from A-cero
The house has a total Built-up Area of 631.71 m2, being located on an exclusive residential neighborhood of Aravaca, on the outskirts of Madrid.
Two parallel plans with vertical lines cross the construction like a double architectonic skin which becomes the leitmotiv of the property. The rest of the building is developed around this central axis with many twin cubes creating a harmonic volume game. Next to this architectonic path appears the most public area with the kitchen and living-dining room. Meanwhile on the other side of the plan remain four complete suit bedrooms, one of them for the guest.
A sculptural staircase leads us to the first floor, where you can find the private spaces and the bedrooms of the owners. On one side a big bedroom and bathroom, on the other an office with library that connects with the living room through a double height.
All the villa is covered by white mortar monolayer that remarks the pure essence and the architectonic unity lines.
The ground floor is finished on white Macael marble, while the first floor is finished on wood. The white color covers all the house allowing reflexions of the light. A warm decoration between the tradition and modern make the perfect fusion between the container and content.
Architecture: A-cero – Joaquin Torres & Rafael Llamazares

I like a lot the materials and the colours that A-cero use in this house. The contrasts of the colours with the light and the water of the swimming pool are espectacular.

Sorry but I don’t feel this house. Is it just the architect in me?

Preciosa la armonía estilística, el pasillo central, que le da un toque personal y único, distinguible y de categoría al edificio. El color el blanco, que armoniza y hace que destaque en el verde. Y el interior… no defrauda. De arte, como decimos por el sur.

As sterile as a dentists room. It looks like a dissected house where the entrails are spread out while the exterior shape is lost in the process.

Beautiful sight lines in the interior! BUT, the interior spaces look too tight for real living (sacrificed for architectural design?). As for colour? Where? White exterior, white and off white inerior with wood stairs and a wood floor in master bedroom. Could have been great, ends up bland.

Without any doubt, a great example of simplicity combined with a great design. The idea is summed up very neatly with the exterior volumes and the clear powerful lines.
