Melted Snow Table by AAStudio
Bucharest, Romania-based AAStudio have designed the Melted Snow table.
.
Description from the designers
It all started with the idea of creating an original piece of furniture that would be contemporary, innovative, but most importantly, to be emblematic of everyday life: a table. Since we like to challenge Corian use in all kinds of crazy ways, it came natural to use it. Corian is a very strong material, non toxic, non porous, that can take almost any form throught thermoforming.
The form of the table resembles the shape of a rock formation covered with snow called ‘Babele’ from the Carpathian Mountain. Corian became the perfect metaphor for the snow covering the table. The following step was a rough stylization process, an organic volumetric metamorphosis of what was to become the table. For the tabletop we wanted to create the impression of a stone hanged in console that is supported by a massive structure. The material used to suport the Corian mesh is stratified wood which also gives an intriguing texture.

It’d love to see this in person, it looks like a very intriguing piece. I can imagine it would look lovely in an alpine loft.

Stylish, elegant, yet rough!
It makes me want to see it as part of a scenario, hopefully at least as intriguing as the table itself!
Also love the two textures together!
