Stupa Table and Pendant Light by Freshwest
As part of the London Design Festival, CONTEMPORIST visited the Super Brands London design event, where Marcus Beck and Simon Macro of Freshwest Design were exhibiting the Stupa table and pendant light made from plaster that has been turned on a lathe with cotton threads wrapped into the grooves.

These objets are absolutely ugly, useless and functionally faulty. From the view of design, they are meaningless. It’s a shame. There is no direct passageway between the ancient religious art and the functionalism of the modern times.
