In Australia we are unable to buy incandescent bulbs.Disappointing to see a contemporary design still using an incandescent light source.

Ben – why not? Incandescent bulbs are more end-energy efficient than fluorescent, and generate less pollution. If you consider whole life process of bulb you will see that amount of energy consumed to produce, use and utilize classic bulb is lesser. Classic bulbes are made of pure materials – glass and metal, and are fully recyclable. Fluorescent light sources contain plastics, lot of electronics and – worst of all – mercury, which is deadly toxic. All this theories are prepared to justify financial interests of companies producing fluorescent light sources – they are much more expensive and relation between cost of manufacturing and final price is much more profitable. Of course you can use LED light sources, but light emitted from LED is very uncomfortable to human eyes. And finally – classic bulbes are very fancy
It seemes that halogen lighting is for that moment an optimal solution.
Your country limits your freedom, you should have opportunity to buy every light source that you want!
