SPINN Arkitekter together with Format Engineers and the Norwegian Trekking Association, have recently completed a series of daytrip cabins near Hammerfest, Norway.
The cabins, which are just over 150 square feet (13.9m2), are designed to be egg-shaped, with a faceted stone-like appearance. The rounded shape naturally helps to clear snow, and reduce wind pressure.

Kebony cladding was chosen for the paneled exterior, which will develop a patina over time to match the surrounding rocks and arctic nature.

Stepping inside, the hexagonal pattern on the exterior is reflected on the interior walls, creating a cave-like appearance. Adjacent to the door is a fireplace with a table and seating.

On the opposite wall, there’s further seating that follows the line of the of wall, and is positioned to take advantage of the views.

The main focal point of the interior is the large window, that perfectly frames the views of the sunset, the waterways, and city in the distance.
