June 20, 2008

The plans for the redevelopment of London’s Battersea Power Station have been revealed, and they are huge plans indeed. The developers expect to spend £4 billion ($7.9 billion USD) to build “a 300 metre high chimney and ‘eco-dome’, 3,200 new homes, a hotel, shops, offices, and two new London Underground stations” on the 38-acre site.  Rafael Viñoly is the main architect involved with the project which (if approved) is expected to be complete in 2020.
