The EVA Chair by Anderssen & Voll

September 11, 2010

Norwegian design studio Anderssen & Voll have created the EVA chair.

Description from Anderssen & Voll:

Anderssen & Voll’s first major launch will be a series of furniture called “Eva”, especially designed for Juvet Landskapshotell in Norway. The Hotel project offers a unique experience of the relationship between people, architecture and nature. The large windows are like magnifying glasses into the woods – you’re actually out in the forrest. “Eva” draws inspiration from this sensation of dwelling at the forrest floor amongst mossy rocks, ferns and tree trunks. It also draws inspiration from Norwegian folkloristic archetypes – monoblock chairs carved from solid logs. The chairs and the ottoman together aim to mimic the compositions of nature rather than nature itself. The products join traditional contruction in wood and modern textile technology as the whole outside shape is defined solely by textile. For this purpose developed a special knitted wool textile together with Innofa in Tilburg NL that stretches and contracts when you tilt the chair – leaving the chair visually rooted in all positions no matter how you swivel or tilt the chair.

The EVA Chair is being made by Norwegian manufacturer LK Hjelle.
