This chandelier uses magnets to hold lights in place

December 5, 2013

Danny Giannella and Tammer Hijazi of New York design studio Bower have created the Float Chandelier using a series of magnets to hold the LED lights in place.

Bower’s Float Chandelier is comprised of a series of LED lights that are magnetically pulled outward towards a central ring from above and below creating a magical tension in space.

The Float Chandelier feels otherworldly, seemingly breaking the laws of physics, giving the sense of being frozen in space and time. This is the first in an upcoming series from Bower exploring the sense of weightlessness that is possible through magnetic attraction and repulsion.
