Project description

This 113m2 vertical garden is located in Espaço Espelho d’Água, a new restaurant/gallery/concert venue located next to the river in Belem, Lisbon. It wraps around the four walls of the kitchen that is inserted in the open space of this renovated 40s pavilion. Several windows cuts through the plant surface making a see-through space from side to side of the building.

The side facing the bar seating have mostly varieties of Rhipsalis, Ficus, Begonia and Streptocarpus, creating a compact patchwork together with some flowers and colorful leaves.

With more space available, the opposite wall is characterized by different aroids, some that are large growing and in a year or two will get impressive leaves. Also a couple of other plants, like the corner placed ferns, will with time reach a mature, cascading shape.

Each short side have doors to access the kitchen. One side being planted with many dark leaved Alocasia and Anthrium creating an unusual coloration, and the other hosting some singular plants that with time will develop strong character.
