A floating forest is being installed in the City of Rotterdam

The city of Rotterdam will be getting a floating forest this Spring

A group of Dutch entreprenuers and designers from Mothership, spotted an art piece named ‘In Search Of Habitus’, by artist Jorge Bakker, and were inspired to create a life-size version for the city of Rotterdam, by installing 20 trees that will bob in the water, just like a fishing float.

Here is an image of the art piece they were inspired by.

The ‘Dobberend Bos‘ or ‘Bobbing Forest’, as it has been named, started out in March 2014 with a single prototype, to test if the design would work. It has been successful and has since grown into a full tree.

The full ‘Bobbing Forest’, of 20 trees, will be installed in the Spring, in Rotterdam’s harbour, Rijnhaven.
