When MINAX Architects were designing this room in Shanghai, China, they decided to add a sculptural touch to the interior by surrounding the stairs with a ‘cracked-ice’ design.

The ‘cracked-ice’ barrier that travels both floors of the building, was created by welding rebar together, which was then painted white.

Not only does the design provide a safety barrier for the stairs, but it also allows light to easily travel throughout the space.
