Architecture studio Bergmeisterwolf have designed a modern extension for a 17th-century villa in Italy, that has vertical sliding windows that can disappear into the ground.

By having the glass windows slide down and out of the way, it allows the interior of the extension to be opened up to the backyard, enabling a true indoor / outdoor living experience.
