Tucked deep into more than 15 acres of rural land, a once untouched mid century home has been brought back to life in a way that feels both respectful and completely new. The owners, Justin and Charlotte, saw potential in what many would have overlooked. With Britt White Studio leading the renovation, the house has been transformed into a calm and organized mountain home shaped by nature and guided by thoughtful design. What had been a ramped 1960s time capsule now feels open and warm.
A Time Capsule Stuck in the 1960s
When the couple first stepped inside, the home had barely changed since it was built in the 1960s. Its structure was solid, but nearly every room felt closed off from the land that surrounded it. Dark corners, tight spaces and limited windows meant the views were barely noticed. The house, once owned by a jeweler, had all the qualities of a diamond in the rough waiting for someone to reveal its shine.

A Fresh Layout That Lets the House Finally Breathe
The completed 2025 renovation marks a full reworking of the entire home. Britt White Studio opened walls, reshaped the floor plan and focused on clarity, warmth and a deep connection to the mountainside. New windows and doors frame uninterrupted views, while the reconfigured layout allows the kitchen, dining and living spaces to breathe as one. Calming materials inspired by nature now guide the home’s identity, creating a retreat that feels balanced, intuitive and grounded.
A Welcoming Entrance That Sets the Tone
The transformation begins at the entrance where custom joinery, a built-in bench seat and an inlaid coir mat create a welcoming and organized arrival point. Modulo Navurban Ravenswood black wall panelling adds depth and links the space to the rest of the social areas. Soft close drawers and a plush cushion make it a comfortable place to prepare for the next adventure outdoors.

A Nature Led Kitchen That Becomes the Home’s Heart
The kitchen now stands as the heart of the home, linking the lounge, dining area, entry and hallway. Crafted by Ovens Valley Cabinets, it features an Infinity Milan Stone porcelain bench top with a bronze gold shadowline, custom Oasis green joinery and Modulo Ravenswood black panelling on the island. A new window above the sink brightens the space with eastern light. The tiled rangehood, stainless steel shelf and generous joinery elevate both style and function. The palette of greens, greys, blacks and warm timber draws directly from the landscape outside.

A Light Filled Lounge With a Stone Hearth as Its Anchor
The living room feels anchored and calm thanks to a nostalgic crazy stone hearth that runs down two walls and into the floor. New windows and exterior doors pull in daylight and open the space to the landscape. The room forms part of the open social zone, connected but still defined through materials and layout.

A Calm and Sunlit Spot for Sharing Meals
The dining area completes the social zone. With new windows, textured black wall panelling and the couple’s own furniture, it brings an intimate but still airy feel to family meals. Original artwork adds character, and the views outside frame the space with a sense of calm.

A Clever Corridor Designed for Real Life
The hallway has been transformed into a clever circulation zone with hidden laundry and storage. This simple move keeps the home visually quiet and organized while supporting the everyday rhythm of family life.

A Hotel Inspired Bedroom With Space to Unwind
The primary bedroom mirrors the hotel like quality the couple dreamed of. A king bed sits against the same Ravenswood black wall panel seen throughout the home, giving the room visual continuity. Soft window treatments, a dedicated study nook and three walls of robes create a generous and refined retreat.

A Showpiece Bathroom Built Around Color and Craft
The main bathroom is a standout, designed as an elevated experience. A central plinth vanity with floating steel framed mirrors sets the tone, complemented by Irish Terrazzo Honed Tiles from Cerdomus. The curved shower, wrapped in emerald green tiles with terrazzo flooring, feels sculptural and immersive. Green gloss Lume subway tiles and brushed vintage brass tapware add warmth and detail, while the separate toilet area includes a window positioned to catch mountain views.

A Warm and Polished Space for Visitors
The guest bathroom carries the same thoughtful attention to detail. Gloss Mojave green tiles, Boston Oak joinery and terrazzo flooring create a warm and welcoming palette. A Smartstone bench top sits beneath a round white basin, and brushed vintage brass fittings add character. The shaving cabinet reflects the space beautifully, giving the room a fresh, polished feel.

The renewed Great Alpine House now stands as a serene mountain home that honors its mid century heritage while embracing modern comfort. Through thoughtful planning, a nature led palette and a focus on real living, Britt White Studio and the owners have created a home that feels alive again.
