Designed by ATRIUM, the Garage for Car Collection, expands an existing private estate with a fresh architectural idea. The site already included a modern manor and guest house, both part of an earlier phase by the same practice.
This new addition builds on that history while introducing a completely different way to think about a garage. It is not just a place for cars. It brings together display, work, and movement into one cohesive structure set within a wooded plot.
At first glance, it might read as a sleek pavilion among trees. Step closer, and its purpose becomes more layered. This is a space designed to showcase a car collection, host meetings, and support fitness.
The ground floor acts as a bright exhibition zone, directly connected to the driveway for easy access. Above, an outdoor workout terrace opens up new ways to use the space, while below ground, a gym and office extend the program even further.
The entire project is driven by a continuous, Möbius-inspired ribbon. This sculptural move wraps around the site, guiding how each function is placed.
It encloses the main display area, frames terraces, and rises diagonally to the rooftop. This single gesture ties everything together, creating a sense of movement as you move through the building.
Set within a forested plot, the structure was planned to keep every existing tree in place. The layout works around the natural setting, allowing the building to sit lightly within the landscape.
Its footprint and underground expansion help reduce impact, while the placement ensures the surrounding woodland remains intact.
Large glazed facades on the north and south sides open the interior to the outdoors. With ultra-thin profiles, the glass creates a near-invisible boundary between inside and outside.
This transparency allows the car collection to be viewed in natural light while keeping a strong visual link to the surrounding forest.
The exterior is wrapped in a smooth white Corian surface, giving the building a clean, aerodynamic look. It reflects ideas often seen in car design, from precision to fluid lines.
Inside, wood and copper accents add contrast, bringing warmth to the otherwise minimal interior.
Circulation follows the flow of the building’s form. From the gallery at ground level to the rooftop terrace and the lower-level gym and office, movement feels intuitive. Each level connects visually and physically, creating a layered experience that shifts as you move through it.
The architectural drawings reveal the project’s flowing ribbon-like form, clearly mapping how the garage, terraces, and underground spaces connect into one continuous design.
