Tucked into rows of uniform buildings and surrounded by greenery, it would be easy to miss this green clad building if you were quickly walking by. But, if you took a moment to take it in, you’d notice this small building is nothing like its neighbors.

In an effort to put a fun spin on a traditional material, 8350 shingles in shades of green cover the exterior of this family home designed by brandt + simon architekten.

The use of ‘fishscale’ or ‘scalloped’ shingles provides the structure with protection from the elements while the color green helps the building to blend in to its surroundings.

The home is also insulated with recycled paper and heated largely in part thanks to passive solar panels installed on the roof, making the home not only green in color, but environmentally friendly too.
