Designing a home for a family of furniture designers comes with its own kind of pressure. For Studio Way, the project became a balance between two strong design perspectives, shaped into something that feels natural and easy to live in.
Located in Jaipur, India, Home of Chirmi was created for a family of three who wanted a space that felt calm and easy on the eyes. The direction was clear from the start. Soft tones, warm wood, and metal details come together across the home, with subtle shifts in colour as you move upward through each level. The idea was to build the home in layers, with Studio Way shaping the spatial base and the family adding their own final touches over time.
A Home Shaped by Two Design Perspectives
The home opens up to greenery in a way that feels intentional without being overwhelming. A wide patch of green anchors the northeast corner, creating pockets of nature that sit close to the living areas.
A Quiet Introduction in Wood and Metal
The entry sets the tone for everything that follows. There’s no harsh contrast or dramatic statement here. Instead, the materials speak first. Warm wood surfaces and sleek metal elements begin to introduce the palette that carries through the entire home.
Soft Tones and a Garden Connection
The living room continues the idea of softness and balance. Muted tones form the base, allowing the materials to stand out without overwhelming the space.
The connection to the outdoors becomes more noticeable here, especially with the nearby garden nook. Light filters in, and the textures of wood and metal start to feel more layered and expressive.
A Unique Split Table
Up on the second floor, a den features one of the most unique elements in the house, a split table crafted in two different stainless steel finishes. As light and screen reflections shift, the table changes with it, creating a dynamic focal point.
A Quiet Place
The library, located below the den, feels like a place that will evolve over time, especially as objects, books, and collected pieces fill the shelves.
A Dining Space That Blends In, Then Stands Out
The dining space sits comfortably within the overall flow of the home. It doesn’t try to stand apart, instead working with the same soft tones and material palette seen throughout. A large 10-seater table with lighting overhead draws attention, while the sideboard blends into its surrounds.
Clean Lines and an Open Feel
The kitchen with its clean surfaces and restrained color choices keep the space feeling open and easy to use.
A Staircase That Connects Each Level
As you move upward through the home, the staircase acts as a transition point, introducing each level.
Personal Spaces with Subtle Character
The bedrooms bring in more personal expression while staying within the overall design language.
One guest bedroom keeps things minimal, with lightly layered wallpaper and a simple teak wood bed. Another takes inspiration from the outdoors, using custom wallpaper that mirrors the flora just outside.
The primary bedroom, located on the second floor, moves in a different direction. A layered metal screen transforms into a shelving unit at the entrance, creating a feature that will eventually hold travel memories and personal objects.
Consistent Layouts with Individual Expression
Each of the home’s bathrooms shares a similar layout, however each has its own aesthetic, with a focus on clean finishes and subtle detailing that fits naturally into the overall design.
Home of Chirmi comes together through a clear idea of layering. Studio Way shaped the base, setting up the materials, tones, and spatial flow. From there, the home becomes something that will keep evolving over time.
