Lym Space began with its client’s desire for architecture that could hold emotion. Instead of treating the project as a standard commercial build, the design team focused on translating memory and perseverance into the structure itself. Material choices, spatial relationships, and the play of light were all guided by that inner narrative, creating a building that speaks softly but with intention.
The Flower Metaphor and the Architectural Stem
To capture the duality of strength and softness, the architects embraced the metaphor of a flower. The gentle qualities of petals informed the building’s refinement, while the unseen strength of the stem became its structural core. This bold vertical element anchors the design, defining the facade and supporting the concrete above. It becomes a symbolic gesture, representing feminine endurance that is steady, quiet, and unmistakably strong.
Spaces Shaped by Climate and Calm
The building brings together commercial activity with greenery, allowing planted areas to soften the architecture and cool the interiors. In tropical Hanoi, strategies like natural light, cross-ventilation, and facade planting help create a calmer, more temperate microclimate inside. Elements such as deep eaves, vertical fins, and shifting solid and void surfaces add shading while giving the exterior a rhythmic sense of depth.
