In Chihuahua, Mexico, near Punta del Este, iHouse estudio designed a prefabricated summer home for a couple from England. Nestled between dunes and native vegetation, the house was created to blend into its wild coastal surroundings while offering comfort, flexibility, and uninterrupted sea views.

To protect the fragile terrain, the house was prefabricated in modules at iHouse facilities and later transported to the site. This approach avoided damaging the sandy ground and native landscape while ensuring construction efficiency. The modular design also allows each part of the home to function independently yet seamlessly as one.

Extending from the home, the swimming pool and deck create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. Surrounded by native vegetation, the pool is framed by warm timber decking and pergola structures that provide shade while maintaining an open-air feel.

A set of stairs leads up from the deck to the rooftop terrace, connecting the poolside area with elevated views of the surrounding dunes and sea.

The first module houses the main living and dining area, which connects directly to the sea-facing views. It was designed as a flexible social space, equally suited for entertaining guests or enjoying quiet moments when the owners are alone.

A large kitchen with a central island, white cabinets, and a wood accent, serves as the heart of the second module. The island doubles as a dining space, balancing casual meals with generous room for gatherings.

Sliding doors open to connect the kitchen with a covered outdoor dining area.

The home includes several bedrooms across the modules, each with an en suite bathroom. The upper module contains the primary suite, complete with a dressing room, a fully compartmentalized bathroom, and a private outdoor terrace facing the ocean.

Here’s a look at the architectural drawings for the home.

This coastal house by iHouse estudio is a thoughtful balance of efficiency and intimacy. With modular construction adapted to the site’s conditions and rooms oriented to the sea, it offers both a welcoming atmosphere for guests and private comfort for its owners.
