Sitting just 12.5 feet tall, the “O” shaped house hugs the land. Partially enclosed by a rusted steel rattlesnake fence and finished in crisp white stucco, the exterior feels both protective and restrained. The horizontal form emphasizes the vast desert setting, while Ipe wood recessed niches break up the white facade, filtering light and adding warmth to the otherwise minimal envelope.
The entry sequence is subtle. It does not reveal everything at once. Instead, it guides visitors toward the heart of the home, a central courtyard.
That courtyard is more than a design gesture. It is a time-tested desert strategy. Filled with low-maintenance and sculptural plants, it draws in indirect daylight and encourages cooler air to circulate through the home.
