Taiwanese artist Cheng-Tsung Feng has completed the ‘Fish Trap House’, an artistic installation that sits on the shores of Sun Moon Lake, and was created using traditional fish trap design methods.
Before he came up with the design of his installation, he went to the elder of the indigenous Thao tribe, where he learnt the traditional methods for making a bamboo trap for river fishing.

Using his new knowledge, he sketched out what the installation would look like.
Once the sketch was complete, it then had to be created as a model so that he could have a plan and know how to make the installation.

More than 20 people helped him construct the installation and in return, they learnt the traditional art form and techniques.

The end result is the ‘Fish Trap House’. When talking about the installation, the artist says, ‘This art work won’t be used to catch fish, but rather people’s attention. Why not take the time to enjoy the beauty of Sun Moon Lake and Thao traditional culture.’
