Palette Profile – Concrete, Black Steel, And Wood

Hey contemporist friends! Let’s take a moment to scrutinize the palette choices of some designers.

Pitsou Kedem Architects gave this house a palette of rough gray concrete, that still has texture from the forms they used when casting it, black steel that maintains the industrial theme of the concrete, and wood that constrasts the cold industrial with a bit of earthy warmth.

Design Detail – A Wall Of Uplit Glass Jars

Hey contemporist friends! Here’s a real mood-setting decor idea for you. The recently completed Aldwych location of the ROKA Japanese restaurant in London, features this wall of glass jars filled with Shochu (a type of Japanese liquor). The jars are all sitting on their own little shelves, which have LED uplighting in them, creating a glowing light-filled feature wall.
