When designing Coffee Bar, an artisan coffee shop in San Francisco’s Financial District, Jones Haydu used simple materials to create a minimalist space that allows the coffee shop to feel simple, bright, and sophisticated, and let the experience of the food and coffee be the main focus.

 

The interior of this coffee shop has the walls and ceiling covered in plywood. Embedded within the plywood walls are strips of lighting creating a unique and artistic design.

A concrete floor rises up to create the bar where a white countertop serves as the prep surface for both food and drinks.

Plywood sheets cover the ceiling and parts of the walls, and plywood cabinets just below the ceilings create continuity, and provide hidden storage that blends in with the rest of the minimal design.
